The Department of Immigration and Emigration has introduced a new methodology for the issuance of passports, to streamline the process, and for the benefit of applicants. 

Accordingly, applicants are now required to register in advance via the website www.immigration.gov.lk in order to apply for new passports.

The Department said that after registering online, passports will be issued according to a priority system.

The relevant new system is scheduled to commence from today (19).
