Former President Ranil Wickremesinghe issued a special statement regarding the Batalanda Commission report.

Accordingly, he emphasised that the report highlights the severe terrorist acts committed by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) during 1988-1990.

Wickremesinghe stated that his role in providing housing for security personnel in Biyagama was misinterpreted and denied any wrongdoing.

He also dismissed the commission as a politically motivated attempt to discredit him, asserting that no Government had taken political advantage of the report for 25 years.
