The maximum retail price (MRP) of a 50 kilograms (kg) bag of cement has been reduced by Rs. 50 with the new price being Rs. 2,400 with effect from yesterday (1 May).

The industry media announcement stated that cement at the new MRP will be available in the market from yesterday onwards. 

The price revision reportedly aims to boost the local construction industry by passing on the cost benefit to consumers.
