The Election Commission (EC) has announced the dates allocated for the marking of postal votes in the General/Parliamentary Election 2024. Accordingly, postal voting will be held on 20 October, 1 November, and 4 November at all District Secretariats and Election offices. Furthermore, those unable to mark postal votes on the aforementioned dates can do so on 7 November and 8 November, the EC said.
Meanwhile, the certification of postal voter lists will be done on 16 October, and the issuance and delivery of the lists to the post will be done on 23 October.
The EC also announced that the delivery of official ballot papers to the post offices will be carried out on 26 October. Additionally, 27 October, 31 October, and 3 November have been designated as special days for the distribution of official polling cards. The final date for the distribution of official ballot papers is 7 November, according to the EC.
Accepting postal voting applications concluded yesterday (10) midnight. Accordingly, all the public service officials except those who have been exempted from Election duties should have submitted their postal voting applications. The EC emphasised that the failure to apply for postal votes or submitting defective applications will not be considered a reason to exempt officials from Election duties.
Meanwhile, placing deposits for independent groups ended at noon yesterday.
The EC stated that nomination papers can be submitted at District Secretariats until noon today (11). Following the submission of nominations, there will be one-and-a-half-hours for filing objections, according to the EC.
