Sports and Youth Affairs Minister  Sunil Kumara Gamage, engaged in an inspection of a swimming pool being constructed, replacing the diving pool at the Jaffna Central College, recently. 

According to Sports Ministry sources, the new swimming pool replaces the diving pool, which was constructed 13 years ago and has been closed for over a decade.

The Ministry further added that the subject Minister had conveyed to the authorities at the said school that he intends to allocate funds in the future to build the swimming pool at the Jaffna Central College. 

​Meanwhile, following a discussion, the school authorities had invited Gamage to unveil a plaque at the location, but he had refused to unveil a plaque without any renovation or construction taking place.

Parliament Member K. Ilankumaran and the Department of Sports Development Director General V. Premachandiran participated in the inspection tour.
