Sri Lanka Railways has announced 56 special train services for the upcoming Poson festival to facilitate the large influx of pilgrims.
From 9 to 12 June, 20 trains will operate between Colombo Fort and Anuradhapura, while 36 will run from Anuradhapura to Mihintale.
Thanks to full sponsorship by a private company, these services will be offered free of charge to all passengers.
Railway authorities have also arranged accommodation facilities at key locations, including the Anuradhapura railway station, to support visiting devotees.
