The Meteorology Department has issued an Amber advisory for several sea areas from Mullaitivu to Chilaw via Kankesanthurai and Mannar, and from Hambantota to Pottuvil.

Strong gusty winds of 50–60 kmph are expected, with seas likely to be rough at times.

Wave heights could reach 2–2.5 metres from Puttalam to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle and Matara. Naval personnel and fishing communities have been urged to take precautions.
