The Mahaweli Authority opened sluice gates at Victoria, Randenigala and Rantembe reservoirs this morning(18) at 10:20 to manage rising water levels following heavy rainfall.

Six gates at Victoria Reservoir were opened by 70 cm each. 

At Randenigala, two gates were opened by 2.5 m and 1 m, while Rantembe’s two gates were released by 2 m and 2.5 m.

The Authority urged residents in low-lying areas to remain vigilant as water levels continue to be closely monitored.
