A six-member committee has been appointed to study a proposal to establish an intermediate grade for medical officers and submit recommendations.

The committee, chaired by Deputy Health Minister Dr Hansaka Wijemuni, will examine eligibility, medical specialties, service duration, benefits and transfers.

It has been instructed to obtain views from professional colleges and other stakeholders and submit its recommendations within one month.
