The Cabinet has approved a proposal to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Sri Lanka and Russia on railway infrastructure development cooperation.

The agreement will be signed between the Ministry of Transport, Highways and Urban Development and Russia’s Ministry of Transport.

It aims to implement joint projects in railway infrastructure development, modernisation, electrification and digitalisation.

The cooperation will also cover consultancy services and supply of railway equipment and spare parts.
