An unidentified body has been found on the beach near Galle Face, police stated.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been established, while the condition of the body has made identification difficult.

The body has been taken to the Colombo National Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

Colombo Fort Police are conducting further investigations.
