The Court of Appeal has ordered the Department of Wildlife Conservation to submit a detailed report by 10 November on the steps taken to mitigate the human-elephant conflict.
The order was issued today after the Centre for Environmental Justice (CEJ), which had submitted proposals to the Court, alleged that the department had failed to implement them.
The CEJ's lawyer, Dr. Ravindranath Dabare, also claimed the department had not provided any updates on its progress.
Justices Damitha Thotawatta and Sarath Dissanayake directed the department to outline all actions taken regarding the CEJ's recommendations.
