Train operations between Kandy and Peradeniya have resumed after emergency repairs were completed on a section of the track damaged by ground subsidence due to recent heavy rains.

The Railway Department confirmed that the early morning Badulla-bound train from Colombo Fort was able to proceed to Kandy following the restoration of the affected stretch.

The disruption had been caused by persistent rainfall in the Kandy region, which led to the weakening of the railbed infrastructure.
