Vidyartha College Kandy made their mark when they ended as the Plate Champions at the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) conducted Sevens tournament, which concluded at the Royal Sports Complex recently.

Vidyartha were beaten by the ultimate champions, St. Peter’s College in the Cup quarters 0/29. Moving into the Plate semi-finals, they handed off Central College Piliyandala 38/0 and got the better of Dharmaraja College Kandy 24/12 not only to win the final but also the Plate Championship.

They were led by Gayan Perera with Sumedha Malewana being the Head Coach while Kavindu Perera being the Backs Coach of his alma mater. Kusal Bandara was the Trainer of the outfit with another old boy and hard working Upul Bandara Weerasinghe is the Team Manager of the outfit.
