The Department of Meteorology has issued an advisory warning of severe lightning in the Western, Sabragamuwa, and Southern Provinces today (12).
The advisory, which is in effect until 11:00 p.m., warns that thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at some locations within these provinces.
There may also be temporary localized strong winds during the thunderstorms.
Red alerts have been issued for 8 districts, indicating a high level of danger, while amber alerts have been issued for 7 districts, signifying moderate risk.
