Rain mars 1st WI Women and SL Women’s T20I

02 Mar 2026

The first T20I between West Indies Women and Sri Lanka Women was abandoned due to raining weather conditions at Grenada on Saturday (28 Feb).

Sri Lanka Women chasing a paltry 50 runs to win were on 7 for no loss when the umpires decided to abandon the game due to persistent rain.

Earlier the hosts opting to bat first after winning the toss were shot out for 49 as the Lankan spin trio of Kavisha Dilhari (3-5), Sugandika Kumari (2-8) and Inoka Ranaweera (2-16) wove a web around them sharing 7 wickets for 29.

A feature in the home team’s innings was none of their batters being able to reach double figures with Qiana Joseph, Shermaine Campbelle and Aaliyah Alleyne scoring 7 runs each.

The second T20I between the two teams was scheduled to get underway on Sunday (1) with the final game on Tuesday (3) also at the same venue.
