The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber advisory for strong winds and rough seas across sea areas from Kankasanthurai to Pottuvil via Mannar, Colombo, Galle and Hambantota.

Winds of 50–60 kmph and rough sea conditions are expected, with wave heights rising up to 2–3 metres in some coastal areas.

Fishermen and naval communities have been advised to follow further weather updates and safety instructions.
