Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Chief of National Intelligence (CNI), relinquished his duties on 27 October upon reaching the age of 60.

A distinguished officer of the Sri Lanka Army, Maj. Gen. Wanigasooriya served the nation with honour, notably strengthening the country’s intelligence network and enhancing inter-agency coordination on national security.

He assumed duties as CNI in January 2025 and was commended by the Ministry of Defence for his dedicated service and contribution to safeguarding national security.
