• Discussions between Russian Ambassador L. Dzhagaryan and senior Ministry officials had not progressed to concrete arrangements

The Russian Embassy in Colombo clarified yesterday (18) that no financial or logistical matters were discussed during recent talks on potential energy supplies to Sri Lanka, pushing back against a wave of speculation surrounding the meeting.

The Embassy said in a statement that discussions between Russian Ambassador L. Dzhagaryan and senior officials of Sri Lanka’s Foreign Affairs Ministry had not progressed to any concrete arrangements.

However, the Embassy stressed that it continues to work on the issue of energy cooperation with Sri Lanka.
