The Government has signed a US$150 million agreement with the World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA) to improve Sri Lanka’s primary health care system from 2024–2028.
The project will enhance prevention and management of non-communicable diseases, elderly and palliative care, community-level services, and climate resilience.
To address transport shortages for field officers, the Cabinet has approved the procurement of new vehicles, including clinical waste lorries, double cabs, vans, buses, scooters, motorcycles, refrigerated trucks, forklifts, and an ambulance fleet for Jaffna.
