The Cabinet has approved expanded benefits under the Suraksha Student Insurance Scheme, covering additional medical treatments, diagnostic tests and accidental deaths. The revised benefits will apply from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027.
Students can receive up to Rs. 75,000 for hearing-device repairs and related services, and up to Rs. 20,000 for long-term medication for certain chronic illnesses and specified screening tests.
The scheme will also cover PET scans, certain joint replacement surgeries following accidents and cancer-related testing. A benefit of Rs. 100,000 will be provided for accidental deaths during supervised educational activities organised by educational institutions.
