The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) is celebrating its 74th anniversary today (2) with a ceremony at its Colombo headquarters.
The SLFP was founded on 2 September, 1951, by former Prime Minister S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike.
Over the decades, the party has played a significant role in Sri Lanka's political history, producing several presidents and prime ministers.
This includes Sirimavo Bandaranaike, who became the world's first female Prime Minister and led the party for 41 years.
