Sri Lanka Police has introduced a mobile app that allows the public to notify police during emergencies.

NIC holders can register for the “Sri Lanka Police” app on Google Play. Holding the SOS button for 10 seconds sends the user’s location to the nearest police station.

The SOS service is currently being piloted in the Colombo District. Police have urged the public not to misuse the feature.
