The Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawela has directed the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to investigate the illegal acquisition and misuse of Minister Bandula Gunawardena’s credit card. 

The order follows a complaint by the minister regarding unauthorised purchases made with the card, which has a limit of Rs. 500,000.

Accordingly, CID was also authorised to obtain transaction details from the state bank involved. 

The probe will focus on breaches of trust, fraud, and misuse of the credit card.
