The Cabinet of Ministers last Monday (18) approved a proposal to connect public institutions that maintain decisive national information infrastructure facilities with the National Cyber Security Operations Centre.
The Government pointed out that there was a risk of the obstruction of essential services provided by public institutions and financial institutions due to cyberattacks targeting such State entities.
Given the negative impacts of such attacks – such as the transfer of private and sensitive data to other parties as well as implications for personal security within the community, national security, economic stability, public health, and good governance in society – the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Digital Economy, had proposed that all relevant State institutions obtain the professional services of the National Cyber Security Operations Centre.
“The National Cyber Security Operations Centre has been established in order to minimise such threats and risks. The centre continuously monitors, identifies, and responds to cyber threats 24 hours a day while providing facilities to identify and report any type of malicious software and unauthorised access,” the Government said.
