Archbishop of Colombo, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, emphasized the importance of the rule of law for Sri Lanka to attain complete freedom. 

In a special message on Independence Day, he stated, “Rule of law is essential to achieve full freedom.”  

He expressed concern over the country's current situation, noting that Sri Lanka has yet to make significant progress in economic, political, social, and cultural spheres.

The Cardinal urged efforts to strengthen the rule of law as a vital step toward national development and true independence.
