Attention has been drawn to removing the current odd-even fuel distribution system and continuing fuel distribution solely under the QR code system during a committee meeting held to systematically maintain the public service.

The sixth meeting of the committee was held yesterday at the Prime Minister’s Office under the patronage of Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya.

According to the Prime Minister’s Media Division, discussions also focused on the possibility of increasing fuel quotas and introducing future fuel concessions.

Officials attending the meeting stated that sufficient fuel stocks are available until August and that requests have already been made for the required quantities for the remaining months of the year.

The meeting also discussed sustainable energy management, including appointing an “Energy Manager” for every state institution to improve energy conservation and promoting a shift towards renewable energy sources.

In addition, attention was given to designing state buildings according to environmentally friendly concepts under the Clean Sri Lanka national programme.

The Prime Minister also emphasized the need to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the upcoming Vesak week, the PMD added.
