- Global sporting icon to make its official debut today
Wilson, one of the most recognised names in global sports, has formally entered the Sri Lankan market, extending its Asian footprint and bringing its legacy of performance, innovation, and sporting culture to local athletes.
Known for its strong association with tennis and its presence on major international sporting stages, Wilson’s arrival marks a notable development for Sri Lanka’s sports sector and its growing demand for international sporting brands.
The brand marked its official launch today (26) at One Galle Face, Colombo, with two sessions scheduled from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The launch event will precede the opening of the official store and introduce invited guests to Wilson through a curated brand experience.
Centred around its global leadership in racquet sports, Wilson’s Sri Lankan portfolio will include tennis, padel, pickleball, and basketball. Tennis will serve as the lead category at launch, reflecting the brand’s long-standing global connection to the sport.
Wilson’s entry into Sri Lanka is enabled through a partnership with Trident Distributors, led by Yasser Farook, who will manage the brand’s development in the local market. The launch aims to make Wilson’s range of equipment, apparel, and accessories accessible to athletes, enthusiasts, and the wider sporting community.
“Sport has the power to inspire, motivate, elevate and unite communities. Bringing Wilson to Sri Lanka is about more than opening a store – it is about inviting athletes of all ages and levels to dream bigger, play harder and push their limits. We are excited to be part of Sri Lanka’s growing sports journey and to help fuel the passion of the next generation of players,” said Farook of Trident Distributors.
“Sri Lanka represents an important step in Wilson’s continued expansion across Asia and emerging sports markets. For the first time, we are introducing a full-category, 360° brand experience – spanning equipment, footwear and apparel across racquet sports and basketball. Our presence at One Galle Face is designed not just as a retail space, but as a branded destination that delivers a consistent and elevated Wilson experience. We look forward to building a deeper connection with Sri Lanka’s growing community of athletes as racquet sports continue to gain momentum in the market,” said Desiree Huang, Regional Wilson Brand Head.
The launch event at One Galle Face will bring together media, athletes, creators, partners, and members of the sports community for the first look at Wilson’s presence in Sri Lanka. The event will feature product displays, immersive brand experiences, store reveal elements, and sport-linked activities reflecting Wilson’s performance ethos.
With racquet sports gaining traction in Sri Lanka, particularly tennis, padel, and pickleball, Wilson’s arrival represents more than a store opening. It signals the entry of a global brand with the heritage and scope to contribute to the country's sporting development.
