League runners-up Wesley College, Colombo won the All-Island Elite Under-18 Sevens rugby title, when they withstood the challenge of D. S. Senanayake College, Colombo 19-12 in an exciting Cup segment final played at the Bogambara Stadium, Kandy on Sunday (31 August).

The lads from Campbell Park scored two early tries and then a penalty try was also awarded to them for good measure as they gained the ascendancy in the final.

However, the Dons, not to be outdone, launched a solid fightback in the second half with two tries of their own but time went against them as they were piped to the post by the ‘Double Blues’.

In the Cup semis Wesley edged Vidyartha 14-10 in a thrilling affair while DS saw off St. Peter’s 19-12 to secure their spot in the final.

The Plate title was clinched by Sri Sumangala College, Kandy with Ananda College, Colombo and Dharmaraja College, Kandy emerging Bowl and Shield winners, respectively.
