Sri Lanka showcases investment opportunities at Luxembourg business seminar

The Sri Lanka Embassy in Belgium, accredited to Luxembourg, hosted a “Country Seminar on Sri Lanka” in partnership with the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, highlighting growing prospects for bilateral trade and investment.


Held at the Chamber premises, the event focused on strengthening economic ties. Luxembourg Chamber representative Sabrina Aksil noted the strong alignment between Luxembourg’s expertise in finance, ICT, consulting, and logistics, and Sri Lanka’s efforts to diversify its economy.


Sri Lankan Ambassador to Luxembourg Chandana Weerasena outlined the country’s economic progress and its future-focused investment vision. Newly appointed Luxembourg Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Christian Biever, expressed interest in expanding economic cooperation.


Joining online, BOI Chairman Arjuna Herath and Executive Director Priyanka Samaraweera presented Sri Lanka’s investment climate and emerging opportunities in manufacturing, services, infrastructure, and agriculture.


Minister (Commercial) Thavishya Mullegamgoda highlighted Sri Lanka’s trade potential and invited Luxembourg businesses to partner in sectors such as ICT, logistics, high-tech manufacturing, and innovation.


The seminar reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to expanding sustainable and mutually beneficial economic collaboration.
