The Department of Meteorology has forecast a significant increase in rainfall across Sri Lanka over the next few days.

Meteorologist Malith Fernando noted that the atmospheric disturbance currently affecting the island could develop into a low-pressure area by tomorrow (11).

He further stated that the prevailing rainy conditions are expected to continue, with monsoon conditions likely to establish around May 20.

The Meteorology Department noted that the current weather pattern is still in the pre-monsoon stage.
