U.S. Special envoy in Sri Lanka to empower youth leaders

The U.S. Department of State’s Special Envoy for Global Youth Issues, Abby Finkenauer, arrived in Sri Lanka today (12) for an official visit.


According to the U.S Embassy in Colombo, the visit is aimed at empowering young leaders and fostering collaboration on civic engagement.


Coming to X, U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Julie Chung expressed great enthusiasm.



During her visit, Special Envoy Finkenauer will observe the impact of U.S.-Sri Lanka partnerships in education, leadership, and civic engagement. 


She is scheduled to engage with the Embassy’s Youth Forum and alumni from the Emerging Leaders Academy, a USAID-supported initiative promoting civic engagement among underrepresented groups. 


Special Envoy Finkenauer  will interact with participants of the Women in Motion program, which encourages young women to pursue careers in creative industries, and meet with successful young entrepreneurs benefiting from U.S.-supported skills-building programs.
