Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya has highlighted the importance of inclusive education, responsible artificial intelligence (AI) and research-driven development in shaping Sri Lanka’s future.

She made these remarks while attending the University of Colombo International Conference 2026, held under the theme “Advancing an Inclusive Future through AI, Sustainability and Innovation”.

The Prime Minister stressed that all communities should have fair access to quality education and share the benefits of development.

She also noted that AI could improve education, research, public services and economic opportunities, while warning of risks such as misinformation, bias, data privacy concerns and unequal access.
