Inaugural winter charter flight from Poland arrives in Sri Lanka

The first winter-season charter flight from Poland arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) last night (23), marking the start of weekly services by Smart Wings Airlines.


The Boeing 737 aircraft landed from Warsaw at 10:10 p.m., carrying 180 passengers and nine crew members.


The weekly flights will operate every Tuesday until March 15, 2026.


Polish tourists arriving on these flights are expected to visit key destinations including Sri Lanka’s coastal areas, Sigiriya, Dambulla, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Yala.


The passengers were welcomed at the airport by officials from the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.
