Sri Lanka’s inward workers remittances dropped by roughly around 21.8% in June, recording $ 695 million in inward remittances in the month, down from the $ 847 million posted in May, Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) data shows.
Accordingly, June had seen a decrease of $ 152 million in worker remittances in comparison to the previous month. Central Bank data further shows that the cumulative remittances sent to the country by migrant workers from January to June 2026 amounted to $ 4.6 billion – a 23.2% increase compared to the corresponding period in the previous year.
