The National Building Research Institute (NBRI) has issued landslide warnings for several areas in Badulla, Kegalle, Matale, Nuwara Eliya and Ratnapura districts due to heavy rainfall.

Amber alerts have been issued for Mawanella, Aranayaka, Yatiyanthota and Bulathkohupitiya in Kegalle District, and Kuruwita, Elapatha and Ratnapura in Ratnapura District. Yellow alerts cover additional areas across the five districts.

The warnings remain in effect until 4.00 p.m. on 21 October. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant for landslides, earth slips and falling rocks, and move to safer locations if necessary.
