Special for interdicted Finance Ministry official’s post-mortem

A panel of four Judicial Medical Consultants has been appointed to conduct the post-mortem examination of Ranga Rajapaksa, an Assistant Director of the External Resources Department under the Ministry of Finance, who was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Kuliyapitiya.


According to police, the body was discovered in the garden of his residence after his daughter alerted family members.


Officers observed a large bloodstain near a banana tree and noted multiple injuries, including cuts to one leg and an arm. A small knife was also recovered from the scene.


Authorities have launched a full investigation, treating the case as a suspicious death to determine whether it was a homicide, suicide, or accidental.


The Kuliyapitiya Magistrate’s Court conducted a magisterial inquiry, while the body has been sent to the Kuliyapitiya Teaching Hospital for the post-mortem examination.
