Justice for All has called for the immediate repeal of Sri Lanka’s Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) and rejected the proposed Protection of the State from Terrorism Act (PSTA), warning that it would entrench and expand existing abuses.
In a statement issued today (7), the organisation stated the PSTA broadens the definition of terrorism, weakens safeguards against arbitrary arrest and detention, and grants excessive powers to the executive and security forces.
Justice for All urged an immediate moratorium on the PTA, accountability for past abuses, and genuine legal reform that upholds human rights and the rule of law.
