  • Trio injured in 3-wheeler-lorries collision 

A man has died in a road accident in the Molagoda area of Kegalle, the Police said. The accident occurred when a private bus travelling from Colombo to Kandy along the Kegalle–Colombo main road struck a pedestrian who was crossing the road. The injured pedestrian was admitted to the District General Hospital (DGH), Kegalle, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The deceased has been identified as a 54-year-old resident of Molagoda. The bus driver has been arrested in connection with the incident. 

Three Buddhist nuns have sustained serious injuries in a road accident involving a three-wheeler and two lorries in the Nugekanda area of Sooriyawewa. The injured Buddhist nuns, who were travelling in the three-wheeler, were admitted to the Hambantota DGH following the accident. According to the Police, the three-wheeler, which was arriving from a by-road and attempting to enter the main road, collided with a lorry travelling along the main road and subsequently crashed into another small lorry that was parked roadside. Police stated that the accident was caused by the reckless driving of the three-wheeler driver. The driver of the three-wheeler also sustained serious injuries in the accident.
