A sanitation worker attached to the Provincial Revenue Department District Office in Polonnaruwa was arrested today(13) by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption for allegedly accepting a Rs. 35,000 bribe.

CIABOC noted that the suspect had allegedly promised to help obtain a reduced land valuation report to lower the stamp duty payable during a property transfer.

The arrest was made during a raid carried out at the Provincial Revenue Department District Office in Polonnaruwa following a complaint by a resident.

The suspect is due to be produced before the Polonnaruwa Magistrate’s Court, while investigations are continuing.
