The Supreme Court has scheduled the Fundamental Rights petition filed by former Minister Rajitha Senaratne for consideration on 30 September 2025.

Accordingly, Senaratne seeks a recount of the preferential votes obtained by New Democratic Front (NDF) candidates in the Kalutara District during the 2024 General Election, citing irregularities.

He claims the vote difference between him and the elected MP was only 119 and alleges his fundamental rights were violated.
