• 8-yr.-old dies after falling into canal 

Six individuals, including four youths, have died in five separate road accidents reported from various parts of the island. These accidents occurred on Tuesday (5) in Galenbindunuwewa, Nalla, Dompe, Pugoda, Kilinochchi, and Ingiriya, the Police stated.

Meanwhile, an eight-year-old child has died after falling into the Z-D Canal in Polonnaruwa, on Tuesday evening. The child, who had gone to herd the goats in the Nagasthenna area of Welikanda, Polonnaruwa, has met with this incident. Welikanda Police stated that the child had told his mother that he was going to herd the goats on Tuesday evening and had left accordingly, but had failed to return. The body was later recovered from the canal.
