A Maha Sangha Conference is scheduled to be held today (20) at 2:00 p.m. at the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress (ACBC) Headquarters in Colombo.
The primary aim of the conference is to raise awareness among the public about the alleged pressures being exerted on Buddhism and the Maha Sangha in the country.
Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda Thero clarified that the conference is not organized for political motives.
Instead, it seeks to voice objections against the various pressures faced by Buddhist monks and inform the public of these concerns.
In addition, a campaign to collect signatures for a public petition calling on the President to take action against separatism and separatist forces began yesterday (19).
Over 60 national organizations, including prominent figures like Gunadasa Amarasekara and Kalyananda Thiranagama, participated in the event. The organizers announced that the petition will be submitted to the President in the coming days.
