The Government of India has donated two personal water craft to the Sri Lanka Coast Guard to support lifesaving operations.
The vessels were handed over on 26 April at Coast Guard Headquarters in Mirissa by Indian Defence Adviser Captain Anand Mukundan to Director Operations Captain Dinesh Kariyawasam, in the presence of Director General Rear Admiral Rohan Joseph.
The donation aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The Coast Guard stated that since its establishment in 2010, its lifesavers have rescued 2,625 individuals, including 1,218 foreign nationals.
