PM calls for effective investigations into university ragging

 Prime Minister and Education Minister Harini Amarasuriya has stressed that students subjected to ragging must have confidence in university investigations.


The issue was discussed at a meeting of the Subcommittee on Higher Education, held at Parliament under her chairmanship.


The Prime Minister stated that universities have a moral responsibility to prevent and address ragging, and that investigations must be efficient and provide timely relief to affected students.


She also instructed officials to expedite appointments to university vacancies already approved by the Ministry.
