Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Overseas Employment Arun Hemachandra met with officials from the Korean Human Resources Development Institute (HRDK) in Seoul on 24 April to discuss expanding Sri Lanka’s participation in the Employment Permit System (EPS) and fostering broader collaboration.
The discussions focused on overcoming waiting list challenges, enhancing transparency, and streamlining the processing of employment applications.
Emphasis was also placed on improving Korean language skills, promoting workplace discipline, and strengthening pre-departure orientation and technical training for Sri Lankan workers.
Deputy Minister Hemachandra reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to building strong institutional partnerships to develop talent, protect the welfare of overseas workers, elevate professional standards, and ensure that Sri Lankan workers meet international expectations.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Lim Seung Mook, Vice President of HRDK, along with a senior delegation of Korean officials.
