- Secures domestic cricket event rights from SLC
In a landmark moment for Sri Lankan sports and media, thinkCube Systems has secured the event rights for Sri Lanka Cricket’s (SLC) domestic tournaments and youth national inbound tours, as granted by SLC.
In line with this historic partnership, thinkCube Systems also announced the launch of Talent TV, a dedicated television and digital platform to showcase not only cricket but also the breadth of talent across this nation.
Talent TV is Sri Lanka’s latest sports and lifestyle channel, devoted to broadcasting a dynamic lineup of news, talk shows, and entertainment programmes celebrating national talent from all walks of life.
It is positioned to be a national stage for sports, inspiration, and opportunity. Furthermore, Talent TV is driven by a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) vision, focusing on nurturing and promoting local sporting talent, creating opportunities for youth, and delivering high-quality, engaging content that celebrates Lankan spirit and achievements.
During a press conference held to officially reveal the tie-up between SLC and Talent TV at the SSC Clubhouse on Tuesday (12), it was disclosed by officials from thinkCube Systems that the new channel would primarily feature the following events.
Live coverage of SLC Men’s domestic cricket; Men’s and Women’s ‘A’ Team, Emerging Team, and Under 19 Team inbound tours; cricket development-focused programming; documentaries and lifestyle shows featuring untold stories from across the nation; and news, talk shows, and entertainment formats, designed to inspire and engage audiences of all ages.
“With this collaboration, fans will be able to watch these matches live, offering greater visibility to our players and their performances,” SLC CEO Ashley de Silva said.
He added that the new collaboration would be significant, as it would be a boost for domestic tournaments and inbound tours of the Sri Lanka Youth and Emerging Teams.
He observed that it would also add value to the National Pathway Programme. De Silva noted that the game’s local controlling body had maintained the local tournament structure in a manner that would enable players to excel and progress to higher levels.
thinkCube Systems Managing Director Damitha Kariyawasam also addressed the press conference.
Sri Lanka red-ball cricket Captain Dhananjaya de Silva said that the move to broadcast local matches live would not only motivate players, but also afford an opportunity for viewers and followers of the game alike to witness their heroes in action from the comfort of their living rooms.
Sri Lanka ODI and T20 skipper Charith Asalanka and Women’s Captain Chamari Athapaththu were also present at the occasion.
Talent TV (free-to-air) is available via UHF 47 (islandwide), UHF 22 (Colombo), UHF 28 (south), UHF 32 (Karagahatenna), and UHF 56 (Ratnapura).
