Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala stated that investigations are underway into the arrest of several saffron-robed individuals with over 110kg of narcotics at Bandaranaike International Airport.

He noted that all individuals will be treated equally under the law, with facts already submitted to court and further legal action to follow.

Meanwhile, Chief Prelates of the Siyam, Amarapura and Ramanna Nikayas have strongly condemned the incident, calling for strict action against those misusing the Buddhist robe.
