At least seven employees were injured in a gas cylinder explosion at the Polonnaruwa Nephrology Hospital, police stated.

The explosion occurred inside the hospital kitchen.

The injured employees were admitted to Polonnaruwa Hospital for treatment.

The explosion also caused extensive damage to the hospital building, police noted.
