President Anura Kumara Dissanayake alleged that he was informed by intelligence officers that taxpayer money was previously used to finance extremist elements in the country.
The President made the statement yesterday(13) while attending the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP)'s 36th Commemoration of November Heroes (Il Maha Viru Samaruma) at the Viharamahadevi Open Air Theatre, Colombo.
He also asserted that the incumbent government has established a predictable economy, successfully increasing state revenue beyond expected levels.
The event honoured JVP founder Rohana Wijeweera and other deceased party members.
The speech was delivered at the commemoration held for the JVP's November Heroes.
